Group Tutorial Prep.

(so far this is a live draft post, this clearly needs further thought, I will edit this a bit at a time over the next few days)

1. What is professional / industrial experience?
Experience that is gained through working in a commercial environment outside of college.
Gaining knowledge from seeing workplaces/ talking to practicing designers in their own workspace, seeing how they work fist hand.
Seeing how skills I have gained can be applied to 'real work'

2. Why is professional  / industrial experience important as part of PPD?
To see choices available for work after college: answer to 'what can I  do next?'
To narrow down where and what I may do in the future by seeing first hand what I like and dont like in industry.
To know what skills I need to further develop to be able to gain employment.
To gain contacts in the graphics industry that may be useful for me in the future.

3. How do you gain professional / industrial experience and what form does it take?
Work experience/internship in working environment(s)
Visits to and conversations with practicing professionals

4. What should you aim to gain from professional / industrial experience?
A far greater understanding about my future career path options.
Better understanding about the graphic design industry as a whole, gained through talking to varied contacts.
